A wheelchair is a wheeled mobility device in which the user sits.

They are used by people for whom walking is difficult or impossible due to illness (physiological or physical), injury, or disability.

Wheelchairs are classified in the way the chair is propelled. We supply the following chairs:

  • Manual Wheelchairs: these are propelled manually, by either turning the wheels by the hand or by someone pushing the user. Manual wheelchairs can further be catagorized as:
    • Standard Foldable Weelchairs
    • Lightweight Wheelchairs
    • Bariatric Wheelchairs
  • Electric Wheelchairs: are propelled using electrical motors. They are ideally used for people that require a wheelchair in the following circumstance:
    • Individuals that are unable to propel a manual wheelchair
    • Individuals who may need to use a wheelchair for longer distances or over terrain which would be fatiguing in a manual wheelchair

Finding your perfect wheelchair:

A wheelchair assists people to become more mobile and independent.

As most wheelchair users will spend the majority of their day using their wheelchair, the wheelchair needs to be customizable to the wheelchair user. Just as one size shoe does not fit an entire population, a wheelchair wont either. A wheelchair needs to be adjsutable to the user body size to ensure that the user is comfortable and able to optimally use the wheelchair. This is therefor an important consideration when purchasing a wheelchair.

Please go to our Users Guide to Buying a New Wheelchair for information on how to choose the best chair for you.

The chair seat size (width and depth), seat-to-floor height, footrests/leg rests, front casters (Front wheels), adjustable backrests, controls, and many other features can be customized on, or added to, most of our models to ensure that the wheelchair offers a customized fit.

Lastly it is highly recommended that a wheelchair cushion is used with your wheelchair as this will ensure correct pressure distribution, seating position and optimal levels of comfort.
